DIY Studded Shorts
I did it. I did it myself.
I was reading an interesting blog post a while back about how to curb your shopping habits. One of the suggestions was to revive some of your older pieces of clothing by modifying them – one being, DIY shorts. I’ve always wanted to try this, but was never brave enough to actually bring myself to….cut my jeans. Dude, I paid full price for them after all.

So, out of pure boredom, I took an old pair of accidentally ripped jeans and cut the legs off. I had to cut them about 5 times because I was scared that I’d cut them too short.
These jeans were stretchy too which meant that they cling tightly to your thighs. If you’re like me, you’ll want to keep them a bit longer to avoid looking like you stuffed yourself in kids pants. Hot.

I found some antique gold studs in my stash of arts & crafts and Love Bunnie supplies. For the first time, I studded, and it felt good. Wasn’t as hard as I thought.
If you like the distressed look, create it by rubbing a pumice stone or sand paper on the fabric repeatedly. Since mine came ‘pre-distressed,’ I… lucked out? Not really. I really wanted to rub sand paper all over myself. As for the unfinished edges, they gain character over time with each wear.

ta-da. da. da.
They’re not my favorite shorts, but hey, it was my first time. And it was kind of fun. I really think this could become a new hobby of mine. Just wait — coming soon: outfit posts in weird, poorly made clothes.
Do you DIY?
XO,
