Thanks to VancityBuzz and Patrick Leung for doing an “Around Town with Bunnie Bar” feature on me yesterday! Pat and I made a trip over to Lonsdale Quay last week, and although it was raining, it was a lot of fun! And cold.

Now for the even more exciting news… I quit my job and am running away to Asia to hide there until someone finds me and forces me to come back! Just kidding. Well, kind of. I did resign from my work, mainly because I felt like it was time for a change and because the time off I need is… too long.

I’m going to Taipei for 5 weeks. And I’m excited and nervous. The last time I went to Asia was 20 years ago, when I was 5. And since then, I haven’t really been much of an avid traveler, although I would love to be able to see more of the world. I also haven’t gone on a vacation that lasted longer than a week. Meaning that I haven’t been away from home, from family, from everything for…. more than a week. Just a month ago, I didn’t even have any idea when I’d visit Asia, if ever.

I made a vow to myself that I wouldn’t look back on this year and wish I did. So I’m trying to make a change. Create excitement. Take on challenges. And I stared with a comprehensive list of goals and resolutions at the beginning of the year. It’s hopping so far, and I hope it’ll only get better!

Of course, I’ll be updating you guys with whatever I’m doing while I’m away, so stay with me! BTW, any recommendations on things to do / eat /see while I’m there?

Easter nails

OPI I get a kick out of gold & Only Gold for Me (not shown), Sally Hansen Fairy Nice, Joe Fresh Mint, NYC Quick Dry

Bracelets: H&M, DIY

Hi bunnies! Hope you had a hoppy Easter! Did anyone get to go on an egg hunt? A couple of friends of mine were going to surprise me with an Easter egg hunt downtown, but they figured I’d probably resemble someone looking for goodies on the floor or scrounging for food in the trash. I did get some chocolates though, and a Thumper stuffie who sings, thumps his foot and vibrates…..

To celebrate this hoppy occasion, I decided to try Easter egg nails. Nail art isn’t my forte. It usually gets messy, but I’m pretty impressed with myself on how this one turned out.

Get the look:

  • Alternate painting your nails pastel colors — I used Sally Hansen Fairy Nice and Joe Fresh Mint
  • Once dry, use tape to create a couple of stripes on each nail
  • Paint stripes with metallics, pastels or white
  • Using a toothpick or bobby pin, fill in spaces between stripes with polka dots, zig-zags or any other pattern. Get creative!
  • Finish off with a sparkly or clear top coat

As a top coat, I use the NYC Quick Dry in Grand Central Station…. which is just clear. This top coat is the BOMB. It makes your nails dry (and the layers underneath it) very, very quickly and your color lasts a long time. No chips.

The design on my 4th nail was supposed to be a white bunny silhouette  on a purple background with mint polka dots. It looked okay, until I put a layer of sparkles on top. Now, it just looks like I spilled whiteout on my finger. Oh well, I know it’s a bunny. And now, you do too.

lace top and the hat, again

It’s the hat again! I’m definitely getting some good wear out of it. Yesterday, I mentioned that I should post some of my work outfits once in a while. Today, I am doing just that. (And I may have taken these photos previously.)

A random memory hopped into my head the other day, and I thought I’d share. There was this one time, in band camp…. just kidding…. I was driving home from who knows where. As I drove through an intersection during traffic hour, my eye caught sight of this huge sign stuck on the lamp post: $5 manicure. Immediately, my eyes widened and I began to fill with pure excitement… Whaaat? $5 bitches!… until I realized it said: $5 manure. I didn’t end up getting it, obviously. That was it. The end.

If you’ve already heard this story, then…. whatever, you.

neutrals and red lipstick

First of all, I’d like to apologize for the poor picture quality. As embarrassing as it is, I… had to use a point and shoot camera because my “better-one-which-I-don’t-know-how-to-use” ran out of batteries. I’d also like to apologize for the ugly floor. I’ve never said it, but it’s atrocious. It’s ugly now, and it’s ugly in my Outfit of the Day posts. If my mom read this, she’d probably smack me. Ugh.

Anyways, I’m undecided on what kind of image this outfit portrays. Am I classy and chic? Stuck-up and boring? Or a hip modern day investigator? Like, Sherlocklia Holmes?

Regardless, I made a bold move by wearing red lipstick. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve made many attempts to wear it, but they’re always followed by tissue dabbing.. and then vigorous rubbing, after realizing that red lipstick doesn’t come off easy. The H&M “color block” (more suitably, boring block) dress was a steal at $20. I ended up buying 2 of them… but I need to get them altered as they’re a little looser than I’d like.

My style is usually more street wear, but I thought I’d mix it up a bit with something dresser. Yay? or Nay? I should probably start posting some work outfits to avoid boring you to death.

{ ♥ } Spike Bracelets

The first time I ever laid eyes on the CC Skye Mercy Spike Bracelet was on a fashion blog. I don’t recall which blog it was, but it was love at first sight. Love soon turned into obsession, and to this day, I’m still breathless whenever I see this bracelet.

So why haven’t i bought this bracelet if I love it so much? Sigh, because young bunnies, when you get older, you become a little more practical. A little wiser. As much as I love it, I have a mountain of accessories that I rarely wear. Hell, I can’t even remember what I have. And my taste is always changing. So I can hardly justify forking over $150+ for it… as sexy as it is.

But…. $15, I can do. And that’s how much the ASOS Spike Stretch Bracelet is. I admit, it’s not as sleek, or glamorous, or rock couture as the CC Skye one, but I think it can pass. I’m going to get it. And when I do, I’ll let you know how it is. EEEE! I’m so excited! If you’re a splurger though, go with CC Skye. Yes, all the way.

BTW, did anyone get punk’d for April Fool’s Day yesterday? I did not… which either means I’m too lame to joke around with, or I’m just way too respected.

you give me low self-esteem

I suddenly had the urge to revive this fedora… after owning it for about 2 years and probably only wearing it once. I think I’ve worn it 4 times in the past month. That’s record breaking. I have an un-surfaced attraction to all sorts of hats and headpieces. Sometimes, I end up buying them. And when I do, they end up collecting dust in my closet. I haven’t gotten quite comfortable with wearing something on my head. I feel kind of silly. And it makes me feel kind of self conscious. Like the feeling I get when wearing glasses. That shit lowers my self-esteem. Ten fold. Even if you think I “look good in them.” Now sunglasses…. that’s a different story. Are you a hat person?
