Before you question the meaning of my post title, don’t. It’s not worth your time. I’ll explain later.

What you’re seeing in this outfit post is just that — one of the H&M x Versace collaboration jackets. No, I did not line up over night to get dibs on any of the items. Nor was I invited. In fact, I had no idea how the whole thing worked, so I wandered into H&M the day of, hoping to get a glimpse of the collection and oh, did I. From behind metal gates. In my head I shouted but I’m Bunnie Bar!! Yeah, that has no pull.

I gave up on the H&M x Versace collection after seeing that everything was gone just a day after the launch. Meh, I’ll live. I visit H&M pretty regularly, so I wandered in on another day and couldn’t make it past the Versace section because the guy I was with caught glimpse of something amazing and started gravitating towards it. The jacket. Someone returned it. And it was a size 2. Fate. Shit.

So after some justification on why this is a @#$%ing awesome piece, I agreed and purchased it — just to hold on to and decide if I really wanted it. It never made it back to the store. I now own it. I OWN YOU.

Still a little intimidated by the crazy jacket, I wore it to the Jay-Z and Kayne concert. And shit, did I get a lot of comments. From random dudes. It was awkward. And exciting. It’s crazier than the other jackets in the collection, but with the help of my awesome male stylist (not gay) who inspired my first outfit, I think I’ll get some good wear out of it.  What would you wear this with?

XO,

bunnie

PS – I don’t think I’m fat. Nor am I a stick. Nor… would it really matter. Just so happens that I received the perfect comment on my last post which I used for the title of this post. You know, since I’m in shorts and all. It was meant to be.  Thanks for the ammo. You earned it. xo

2012: this is how it’s going to be

I’ve had a few days to think about things that made me live, love, laugh this past year, and things that made me sad, hurt and wish I could be someone else. And with all that thinking, I’ve come up with some things that I want to dedicate more time to, focus more attention to, things I want to do to improve on myself and things that will make me feel like I’m doing something worthwhile.

Does that ever happen to you? The feeling that you’ve done shit-all all week, all month, all year? I get that a lot. Sometimes, I can’t even remember what I did over the weekend. So once in a while when I remember to, I write it down — the productive things I did that week, small things I accomplished — even if it’s just booking an appointment to meet with my financial advisor. If you’re like me, give it a try.You might discover that you’re not as big of an unproductive shit as you thought.

So considering that I not only neglected my resolutions for 2011 but totally forgot about them, I’m making life harder for myself this year to make up for lost time. Here are just a few (non-embarrassing, sharable) changes for 2012.

goals & resolutions

  • Like everyone else, every year: save more money. I could probably achieve this if I banned myself from going to the mall. I should probably find new friends.
  • Read one book a month. 80% self-development, growth, learning; 20% chick-lit.
  • Keep up to date with news and current events. I’m so uncultured. There, I said it.
  • Improve my Chinese by speaking it 24/7. It’s going to get ugly.
  • Stop wasting time on distractions. Does it take you twice as long to do something because you’re picking up your phone every couple of minutes?
  • Make time to catch up with the important people in your life — the ones you like, you care about but aren’t in your regular circle of friends.
  • Trim the fat. Get rid of people who aren’t worthwhile. Life’s too short for shitty friends.
  • Shave more often. Just kidding. No, really. I’m kidding. I’m not going to shave at all.
  • Do as you say, or don’t say it at all. “Let’s go for lunch.” Really, we’re going to go.
  • Love and appreciate more, hate and envy less.
  • Stop saying “I don’t know.” How to do this, I don’t know.
  • Make lists. Lists of things you need to Google, topics you want to learn, words you don’t know. Boys to stalk on Facebook.
  • Be more active, more often. Dance. Wiggle. Walk. Just move, fat ass. (I’ve given up on gym goals.)
  • Try new things. Get out of your comfort zone. Be awkward.
  • Slow down, reflect and make time for things you enjoy doing alone. Not those things.
  • Find your own way to give back… all the clothes you stole from your friends. I kid. Volunteer, charity, whatever it may be. It’ll make you feel good.
  • Listen, learn, write, share. More.
  • Do something every day that motivates you, inspires you, makes you feel accomplished. Big. Small. Doesn’t matter.

I know there’s a multitude of other things I’d like to do that haven’t ever crossed my mind. But I’ll stick with this for now. Sounds like a challenge. Am I up for it? I don’t know. I mean, yes.

Did any of my goals or resolutions make it on your list?

I still want a sequin dress

  1. Rare Opulence sequined and ruffle tulle dress
  2. Oasis glitz sequin dress
  3. Isabella Oliver sequin zip dress
  4. Tibi petali beading v-neck dress
  5. Rachel Gilbert aria sequined silk-chiffon dress
  6. Alice + Olivia hanlin sequin tank dress
  7. Plein Sud Jeanius sequin tank dress
  8. Tibi one shoulder sequin dress
  9. Lipsy VIP Vestido busto sequin dress
  10. Lavin sequin sleeveless
  11. Vince sequin dress
  12. Bird by Juicy Couture sequin wool dress

In my head, I was wearing one of these gorgeous sequin dresses for new year’s eve. In reality, I was not. Seems like sequin dresses have been on trend for the past couple of years. Does that still make it a trend? Regardless, I still want one. Why I don’t have one, I don’t know. And I mean a full sequin dress. Not one of those sequin in the front, fabric in the back dresses, and not like the one I wore on my birthday which was sparingly covered in round, shiny goodness. But, being the cheap frugal and “practical” person I am, I can’t bring myself to spend a few of hundred on one. Why? Because a piece like that is an eye-catching, show stopping, jaw dropping stunner. So much that boys will even notice me. Fingers crossed. And with something that noticeable and distinctive, you really don’t get a lot of wear out of it. Unless you’re okay with being known as the dirty person that wears the same thing all the time, don’t do it.

I did find some full sequin dresses from Forever 21 when I was in Las Vegas this Halloween. And being the “sensible” shopper I am at the dumbest times, I figured it wasn’t something I needed.  One regret of 2011. It was also like, $40 or something. And it actually fit okay. Wow, that was dumb. I should shoot myself in the face.

I vouch to live this new year with no regrets.

a new year, another chance

Dresses: Laura Petite, H&M, Bebe

Happy new year everybunny! I’m a day late, but I have a good excuse. I was practically bed-ridden on new year’s day due to a lot of awesomeness the night before. I woke up around 12:30pm and freaked out that… it was 12:30pm. One thing about me is that I hate waking up late because it makes me feel like I’ve wasted the entire day. So with that being said, I…. somehow ended up getting up at 5:30pm. A real lazy Sunday to start off the new year.

However, with laziness comes time to reflect and that’s exactly what I needed. When I think of the year that just passed, it feels like just that — another year passed. But think harder and memories and lessons start to unfold. And although I can’t say that this year is the best yet — every age, every stage in life has different experiences that stand out, different events that are important, different requirements to grow — 2011 has been one of the most diverse and influential in making me, hopefully, a better Bunnie.

One thing I am a bit disappointed in is that I didn’t meet all the goals I made. Not only that, I forgot I made them. So once I settle on my resolutions and goals for this year, I’m keeping them visible. After all, you’re supposed to revisit them every now and then to see how you’re doing aren’t you?

So aside from the typical resolutions that are really on everyone’s list — go to the gym, save money, what else do you have? Share them with me. Could be that your resolutions are things I need to do, need to improve on, or things I’ve never even considered. So I need to know. Here’s two for you 1) read one book a month 2) use your phone less. I read this post I wrote 2 years ago. It’s like I just slapped myself in the face. Maybe you need a good slapping too.

Anyways, happy new year to all of you! Wishing you the best in love, happiness and success – whatever you strive for in 2012. Thanks for reading, as always.  ♥

PS – Today’s also my BFF @chinsquared‘s birthday. HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Love you lots. xo

stylish kind of kid

Danier jacket | American Apparel leggings | H&M kids sweater | Marc by Marc ring

Sometimes I wish I was a toddler so I could wear puffy tutu skirts, stylish little booties and cute flowers in my hair….. for cheaper. I already wear puffy tutu skirts. It just costs more. Except for this awesome metallic sweater I found from H&M. I was contemplating on getting the normal human size one for $40 or something until I saw it — the exact same sweater in little people size at little people prices. For $25, it’s a steal. Size 14Y. Not sure if being the same size as a possibly pre-pubescent kid is anything to be proud of, but I’m going to make a trip to the kids section every time I’m in H&M from now on.

Anyways, my initial thoughts on this before I got sidetracked was: WTF. Why are kids clothing these days so much cuter and stylish than it was when I was a kid? When I was a young and uglier, everything I wore matched. Red top, red pants. Jean jacket, jeans bottoms. Top with cartoon cats puked all over it? Bottoms with cartoon cats puked all over it! Maybe that’s why I was so ugly….

Here is just one example:

As I’m writing this post, it’s suddenly dawning on me that this might not be how all kids dressed in the 90′s… and I might actually be the only one. Oh gawd. Anyone else look this ridiculous?

bunnie

5 shoes in 5 days

I did the 5 day shoe challenge. Just kidding. I don’t know what I did but I ended up with 5 new pairs of shoes within 5 days. If my mom saw this post, she’d kill me. I have a shoe addiction, but that’s no secret. Remember this post?

Capecoral, Aldo

Sharonii, Matiko

Holtan, Aldo

Classics, Toms Shoes

Zoey, Vera Wang Lavender

The funny thing is this is just a small portion of my shoes, and I only have 2 feet. How does shit like this happen? Well in my defense, 3 out of the 5 shoes were Christmas gifts, which I’m totally okay with. I don’t mind being spoiled. I have to admit I’m a bit intimidated by the Matiko wedge booties (yes, there’s a hidden wedgie inside) and the sequin Toms. I’m not sure if I know how to… pull them off. But fortunately for me, it’s been raining like hell in Vancouver for the past week so I have some time to muster up the courage (and outfit) to rock them.

Any suggestions? If you had any of these shoes, what would you wear with them?

XO,

bunnie
