[ Goals & Resolutions ]

.

End of January. Already. Does it feel like it just hopped by? Or is that just what happens when you get old? It took me a month but I finally did it: I wrote out my goals and resolutions and hung them on my wall. Now that they’re clearly visible and sparkly with bows, there’s no excuse for neglecting them. Which also kind of sucks, because I just made myself 100% accountable.

With that being said, the force that pushed me to get this done is probably fate. Or some kind of savior. Because I’m slowly forgetting what my resolutions are and caving on a lot of things I was so disciplined about during the first 2 weeks of the year. Yup, 2 weeks. So here’s a reminder to myself (and to you) that it’s not even fcking February. If I keep this trend up, I’m setting myself up for a disappointing year. I’m better than that. You too.

If you’re sticking to your plan, than kudos to you. You deserve a balloon, and a pat on the back. Really!

BTW, I’m leaving to Vegas today for work. The saving money thing, might have to wait. Wish me luck. :(

[ Bunnies! Only 3 days left to enter my Winky Designs Watch Giveaway! ]

Zara blazer, pants | Wilfred Free tee | Aldo shoes | H&M clutch
Le Chateau white leather cuff | Multi-color bracelet from Egypt

Foot massages. I love them. I went for my first foot massage about 2 years ago, and shortly after, I was addicted. I started going a 2-3 times a month. I had a problem. So I had an intervention, and now, I rarely go. Just recently, a new modern reflexology spa called Foot Lounge just opened. Trouble.

It’s a great lounge. The massages are awesome. But my favorite part is this: they have a masseuse who gives foot readings. Foot what? Readings. In smart people terms, podomancy.

Your feet tell a story. The right is your masculine side, your Ying. It symbolizes work, money, “manly” things. (Debatable.) The left is your feminine side, your Yang. It symbolizes decision making, trust, and other “girly” things. According to my awesome masseuse, my Ying is dominant over my Yang. I’m a manly she-male who sucks at decision making (truth) and trusting people (truth too). To strengthen my Yang, I need to cut down on sweets. Stress causes me to eat sweets, which in turn, clouds my judgement and triggers bad decision making. Note to self: do not mix alcohol and sugar.

Now if I want to manifest my Ying and make it stronger, I need to find a regular social activity. Like, sports. Pleease. I told the masseuse that I do engage in a social activity. It’s called blogging. Apparently, sitting in front of your computer alone for hours is not a social activity. What?

Anyways, while I’m getting my massage and podomany on, I’m feeling all zen and shit. Our deep, intellectual conversation about my life is suddenly interrupted: [in Chinese] ”WAAAAAH! You need to get a lymph node massage!!! Your legs are sooo FAT!” Yup. That’s a typical traditional Chinese woman for you. Mind you, during the foot massage you could only see my calves. So now I have fat calves too, right under my fat thighs. Common theme?

My BFF and I did burst out laughing though. No offence taken.

XO,

PS – I thought this outfit was appropriate for the post because it’s bold and strong. Since I’m manly and all.

I’ve had a few days to think about things that made me live, love, laugh this past year, and things that made me sad, hurt and wish I could be someone else. And with all that thinking, I’ve come up with some things that I want to dedicate more time to, focus more attention to, things I want to do to improve on myself and things that will make me feel like I’m doing something worthwhile.

Does that ever happen to you? The feeling that you’ve done shit-all all week, all month, all year? I get that a lot. Sometimes, I can’t even remember what I did over the weekend. So once in a while when I remember to, I write it down — the productive things I did that week, small things I accomplished — even if it’s just booking an appointment to meet with my financial advisor. If you’re like me, give it a try.You might discover that you’re not as big of an unproductive shit as you thought.

So considering that I not only neglected my resolutions for 2011 but totally forgot about them, I’m making life harder for myself this year to make up for lost time. Here are just a few (non-embarrassing, sharable) changes for 2012.

Top Shop Jacket | Winky Designs watch

goals & resolutions

Like everyone else, every year: save more money. I could probably achieve this if I banned myself from going to the mall. I should probably find new friends.

Read one book a month. 80% self-development, growth, learning; 20% chick-lit.

Keep up to date with news and current events. I’m so uncultured. There, I said it.

Improve my Chinese by speaking it 24/7. It’s going to get ugly.

Stop wasting time on distractions. Does it take you twice as long to do something because you’re picking up your phone every couple of minutes?

Make time to catch up with the important people in your life — the ones you like, you care about but aren’t in your regular circle of friends.

Trim the fat. Get rid of people who aren’t worthwhile. Life’s too short for shitty friends.

Shave more often. Just kidding. No, really. I’m kidding. I’m not going to shave at all.

Do as you say, or don’t say it at all. “Let’s go for lunch.” Really, we’re going to go.

Love and appreciate more, hate and envy less.

Stop saying “I don’t know.” How to do this, I don’t know.

Make lists. Lists of things you need to Google, topics you want to learn, words you don’t know. Boys to stalk on Facebook.

Be more active, more often. Dance. Wiggle. Walk. Just move, fat ass. (I’ve given up on gym goals.)

Try new things. Get out of your comfort zone. Be awkward.

Slow down, reflect and make time for things you enjoy doing alone. Not those things.

Find your own way to give back… all the clothes you stole from your friends. I kid. Volunteer, charity, whatever it may be. It’ll make you feel good.

Listen, learn, write, share. More.

Do something every day that motivates you, inspires you, makes you feel accomplished. Big. Small. Doesn’t matter.

I know there’s a multitude of other things I’d like to do that haven’t ever crossed my mind. But I’ll stick with this for now. Sounds like a challenge. Am I up for it? I don’t know. I mean, yes.

Did any of my goals or resolutions make it on your list?

XO,

Dresses: Laura Petite, H&M, Bebe

Happy new year everybunny! I’m a day late, but I have a good excuse. I was practically bed-ridden on new year’s day due to a lot of awesomeness the night before. I woke up around 12:30pm and freaked out that… it was 12:30pm. One thing about me is that I hate waking up late because it makes me feel like I’ve wasted the entire day. So with that being said, I…. somehow ended up getting up at 5:30pm. A real lazy Sunday to start off the new year.

However, with laziness comes time to reflect and that’s exactly what I needed. When I think of the year that just passed, it feels like just that — another year passed. But think harder and memories and lessons start to unfold. And although I can’t say that this year is the best yet — every age, every stage in life has different experiences that stand out, different events that are important, different requirements to grow — 2011 has been one of the most diverse and influential in making me, hopefully, a better Bunnie.

One thing I am a bit disappointed in is that I didn’t meet all the goals I made. Not only that, I forgot I made them. So once I settle on my resolutions and goals for this year, I’m keeping them visible. After all, you’re supposed to revisit them every now and then to see how you’re doing aren’t you?

So aside from the typical resolutions that are really on everyone’s list — go to the gym, save money, what else do you have? Share them with me. Could be that your resolutions are things I need to do, need to improve on, or things I’ve never even considered. So I need to know. Here’s two for you 1) read one book a month 2) use your phone less. I read this post I wrote 2 years ago. It’s like I just slapped myself in the face. Maybe you need a good slapping too.

Anyways, happy new year to all of you! Wishing you the best in love, happiness and success – whatever you strive for in 2012. Thanks for reading, as always. ♥

XO,

PS – Today’s also my BFF @chinsquared‘s birthday. HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Love you lots. xo

Wildfox hoodie | DIY shorts | Seychelles booties | Longchamp bag
Michael Kors watch | Aldo bangle

Just kidding. I’m kind of smart. Or at least I used to be. I got a science degree. True story.

Then I started working. Working, and forgetting everything I learned in school. Which was okay, because what kind of normal person uses the Pythagorean theory, analyzes action potential, calculates the projectile trajectory of a moving object or knows what pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis means on a normal day? (Look it up.)

I’m not working in the industry I went to school for, but I’m okay with that. I like internet marketing, business, arts and crafts and the like, but you can learn all of that through experience. You can’t learn science though. This is what I tell myself this to make me feel better about my degree. I did enjoy it though, I swear.

And over time, all this knowledge — the knowledge that made my brain so sexy and used to meet cute boys — has leaked out of my head and been erased from my memory… forever. That, makes me sad. And annoyed. Yea, you know what’s annoying? Being the spectator of a somewhat science-related debate when someone turns to you and goes, YOU should know this! You did science! Oh yeah? Well you know what? I DON’T. I don’t remember what I learned 3 years ago, and you know what? I never learned that anyway, you asshole.

So I feel dumb. I feel dumb that I can’t remember why your ears turned out funny or why your elbows are double-jointed. Or why you have acne. (Okay I do. It’s from bacteria eating fatty acids off your face.) And sometimes, I miss being in the industry. I miss really using my brain. So tell me – did you go to school for something you are or aren’t doing now? And how’s that going for you?

XO,

The OFTD’s are just that – photos of my outfit, for that day. Sometimes I put together a pretty decent outfit, and other times, not so much. I may look polished, cooooool, frumpy or bummy…. and sometimes I even look like a Sasquatch (so I’ve been told).

The OFTD’s have become a regular routine for me before I leave for work in the morning, or head out with my BFF on Saturday. It brings back purpose to my life (coming in 2nd place after Jersey Shore).

So for all of you who aren’t in-tune with us hip and cool people all up in social media , I’ve brought the OFTD’s to the blog. You can find the OFTD’s on the right side bar. Thanks KevDubb for the tip!

hope you love it.

XO,

PS. For the jerks that ask, OFTD is for Outfit of the Day. Yes, I know that “of” does not start with an “F”, but I don’t like how OOTD looks. Leave me alone.

H&M cropped sweater | Liberty Love loose tee | F21 tutu
Aldo bangles, necklace | Michael Kors watch | Wanted flats

Big fish versus small fish. If presented with the option, would you rather work for a big company or a small company? There seem to be pros and cons for both. Let me break it down for you, the way I perceive it.

Big. More established, more security. Chance of higher salary. Opportunity to grow with the company, and if you do, it can be a big deal. The problem is, will you be someone? Or just a numbered employee?

Small. Chance to learn more about the business and gain experience in new areas. Opportunity to work closely with head honchos. Less security, possibly less pay. Room for creativity and your ideas.

What else is there? It’s possible that I may be faced with this situation soon…and I’ve been thinking about the benefits and downsides of each without but I haven’t made much progress… so help me. What’s your take on it?

And seriously, since when did I get to a stage where I have to make these kinds of decisions? It was just yesterday that I was running through the park, twirling in a tutu. (Not literally, but it’s a good idea.)

XO,

PS. There it is. The tee I loved so much… that shrank and was last seen: Just a photographic memory.

I wanted to start a blog, as you can see.
A blog that was fun and free. A blog that was me.

I have this book where I write down my goals, my aspirations and the things I’ve learned about myself along the way. As I was flipping through it the other day, I came across a page that made me stop, and made me smile. “I want to start a blog.” How this idea came to mind… I can’t quite remember. But I’m pretty sure it was influenced by my job at the time. I worked for an Internet marketing company and I became interested in the industry. And interested in web design too.

Excited like a little bunnie, I started brainstorming names… but I didn’t get too far. I didn’t know what I wanted to blog about, but I knew i just wanted to do it. I wanted a name that could encompass anything, and anything I wanted to write about. So I “thought long and hard…”

Bunnie Bar is a where I share a bit of me. In… some ways, most ways. And there’s a little bit of something… for every one. Of course I’ve figured out that I love to post about shopping, fashion, and girly things, but you’ll get the occasional odd post, like this one here. Regardless, thanks for being here. For the year and a half so far…. ♥

Now why my name is Bunnie? That’s a story for another day.

XO,

PS. Why I decided to HANDWRITE the first line of this blog on the computer, I have no idea. Why I then decided to POST such ugly writing, I don’t even know. I think I thought it was cool….

The name says it all: Easy Open Coconut.

1. Pierce eye, drain milk.
2. Tap along groove.
3. Remove flesh, enjoy!

SO SIMPO! Right? Has anyone ever tried to open a coconut like this? Let me tell you how it’s done.

Step 1: Pierce the eye. That’s easy. Drain the milk? Easy too right? Right. Until you realize that hmmm liquid doesn’t drain too well from small holes in concealed objects. So like a physicist you think, Right. All I need to do is poke another hole so that the pressure can escape.

Here we go.

Poke.

….. Poke.

……. Poke!

….. POKE. Poke. Poke.

…… POKE! POKE! POKE! POKE! POKE!

WTF!

It. Won’t. Work. The first hole was easy access. Working the second was NOT. The third wouldn’t budge either. Oh yes, we tried chopsticks, knives, screw drivers. And after much effort. It gave in… Woo hoo to a few more drops of coconut milk.

Step 2: Tap along groove. What does tap mean to you? To hit lightly right? Wrong! In coconut language, tap means: to pound vigorously first using knives of increasing length, size and durability and then with a hammer. It’s like trying to cut open a freakin’ rock.

Step 3: Remove flesh and enjoy! How do you easily remove flesh that is dense, tight and almost solid? Not with a spoon! A knife perhaps? Sure. But you’ll need a lot of strength, precision, articulation and sawing skills.

One hour later…. I’m not even sure if I really enjoyed myself. Watching someone open a coconut becomes less exciting over time. ;) { Yes, all I really did was drink the milk and eat the flesh. } However, the 2 sips of coconut milk was great and the dry paper-like flesh was… okay.

If you’ve never done it before, it’s something new, something different, and something “fun.” I’d say it’s one of those things you have to do once in your life. However, they could have made the instructions a bit more helpful.

Materials: A strong, patient and determined figure { ideally a male } who has chopsticks, butter knives, steak knives, butcher knives, a cutting board, and a hammer.

I guess if you have time to kill, you could always watch a movie or something too. :)

XO,
