I’m surprised that it’s been relatively nice in Vancouver since I returned from the east. I was a bit excited to come home to some cooler weather, but instead, I was greeted with more heat… which I’m not complaining about. Besides, it was an opportunity to wear clothes that only get to see the light, 2 months out of a year.

I’ve been really into conspicuous things lately — bright bolds, blinding neons, fancy pants, and… that’s all I can think of right now. I really love how this outfit turned out (especially in the photos) with the rich blue denim jacket, contrasting orange and pops of yellow and green vegetation. It’s so bright and cheery. What all of June, July and August should really be like!

I can’t believe it’s almost the end of July and I haven’t even gone to the beach yet! I have been learning how to drive a standard car though. And I’m pretty damn good at it. Except for stalling once in the middle of a left turn. And not making it over a small speed bump. Point is, I have a lot of summer to do still. How’s yours coming along? Or are you procrastinating too?

Montreal & New York Photo Log

Alas! A photo log of my recent trip to the east coast. I’m so, so sorry for the delay. I know the wait must have been absolutely unbearable. The agony! The pain!! I’m kidding, obviously. You might give a rat’s ass about it, but I’m going to share my trip with you anyway, because I know somebunny out there is curious… and I’d like a record of the memory for my own sake. After all, this is a blog, isn’t it? :)

{ Montreal, Quebec }

Strolling in Old Montreal. The buildings have so much character, and the terraces are perfect for warm evenings. Plus, a lot of them allow you to BYOW: bring your own wine!

Amazing smoked meat from Schwartz’s. They give you the option to choose your fat content. Medium, please.

International Jazz Festival. It’s a really big event in Montreal. Vancouver has it as well, but it’s not nearly as popular.

This is almost embarrassing to say, but the maple bacon Poutine from… Burger King was really good.

The view of the courtyard at Oratorie Saint-Joseph.

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wigglin’ it with LMFAO in Laval.

Brunch at with his best friend, and my best friend at Le Club Chasse et Peche. :)

{ New York }

Times Square

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Catching up with Alex Wong, my favorite dancer and SYTYCD contestant in the whole wide world at Basta Pasta Italian-Japanese fusion restaurant. What a mouthful.

The world’s largest store is Macy’s!

Spider bunnies at FAO Schwarz

My first time visiting the east coast of North America was amazing. I wish I could have stayed longer. There are still so many things that I didn’t get to see, and so much shopping that still needs to be done.  I totally wouldn’t mind living in NYC either. The more places I get to see, the more of the world I want to see. And I’m starting to feel like home is a bit boring and slow-paced… a lot of the time. Vancouver is a beautiful city, and everyone should visit at least once. But having been here all my life, I feel like there’s not much to do, and not much going on… relative to some of the places I’ve just come back from. Or maybe I’m just a biased, grumpy old bunnie.

Anyways, East Coast… I’ll be back. *Arnold Schwarzenegger voice*

Club Tropicana

I’m in New York and summer is here. And since it’s really here (unlike “summer” in Vancouver), there’s no better way to live in the season than getting all colorful up in hurrrr. And by that, I mean strutting your stuff in one of the prettiest trends… tropical prints! Bright flowers, bold sunsets, tall palm trees, clear blue waters, orange papayas, yellow pineapples, hula girls, cocunut bikinis, cocktail umbrellas… okay, maybe that’s a little extreme. I’m extreme, though. Didn’t you know?

The first thing on my summer shopping list (not to be confused with other shopping lists) is a paradise-inspired dress. From doing a lot of online “browsing” lately, I noticed that ASOS has an amazing selection of tropical pieces. Problem: Deciding which dress from ASOS I’d like to hop into first. My favorite thing about statement dresses like these is that you can be a minimalist… with everything else.

Like I said, I can be extreme at times. Even crazy. HEHEHAWHAWHAW! So if bold, printed, in-yo-face dresses are a little too much, hit the tropics with just one piece. Dress down busy tops with a pair of skinny jeans and flats for an effortlessly chic look, or pair them with colored shorts and wedges for something a little more bold. ;)

Tailored pants are also a style staple and great for keeping warm in the evenings or… adding sunshine to your outfit (and day) if you’re in chilly Vancouver like me. To avoid overloading the look, match your top or shoes with a subtle color on the pants, or if you want to be seriously fun, match the loudest or go for a totally contrasting color. Beware: May cause a lot of staring. Not for the faint of heart.

As you can see with your eyeballs, this is not for the fashion shy. It takes bravery. Guts. And sometimes, stepping out of your comfort zone. If you’re the type that prefers changing accessories to stay on trend, unfortunately there’s no shortage of shopping for you either. Add a punch to your favorite LBD or jeans and tee with printed heels or fruity jewels.

I told you mine. What’s your tropical style?

Wear Else Spring Fashion Show

How’s your Monday so far? Mine was great. I had the day off. Sucker.

Wear Else Spring 2012 Look Book

Last week I had the pleasure of being a guest at the Wear Else spring fashion show, benefiting BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre Foundation.

If you’ve peeked into Wear Else before, you’ll know they have a collection of work, play and party clothes designed by today’s most sought-after designers. It’s literally a one stop wardrobe destination for the contemporary, sophisticated, and on trend woman. If you’ve never shopped at Wear Else, hop in and you’ll see pieces by Alice + Olivia, DVF, Eli Tahari, Free People, JBrand, Pink Tartan, Rebecca Minkoff, Tibi, M Missoni… and the list goes on.

As the gorgeous models strut down the purple runway, Wear Else president and CEO Zahra Mamdani revealed the new spring collection and touched on the popular trends and styles for this season. It was a casual show but there was definitely no shortage on style! Not to mention, Zahra is super stylish and so gorgeous!

Here’s a look at some of the work, play and party outfits from the show:

I’m loving their bright colors, maxi dresses, color block pieces, florals and patterns! The spring collection is available online at WearElse.com, but they also have 3 beautiful locations – Oakridge, W. 4th, Park Royal – so you’re obviously going to pop in there when you’re in the area. Wear else would you go??
