Hi every bunny! I’m on to look #3 with this sequin dress. We’ve done the party look and the dressy daytime look. Now we need to style it so we can wear this dress into the evening! I paired the sequin dress with a heavier sweater to create a look more appropriate for evening events, happy hour or maybe a dinner date. The blazer over top makes the outfit more structured, smart and put together. Depending on your work or company, you can throw on a pair of opaque tights and make it business casual for networking events, schmoozing and whatever else the night may bring. ;) (And I say depending on your work because the dress is a mini!)

If I styled this outfit again, I’d switch out the shoes and wear these instead. They didn’t do the outfit justice. It actually kind of bugs me every time I look at it. Oh well.

So dinner, anyone?

I have this perception that sequins are meant for evenings. It’s never crossed my mind to wear sequins during the day… let alone a full sequin dress. But apparently, it can be done! I paired the sequin dress with a long sleeve lace top to downplay the sparkle and add a touch of romance. Since the dress is already so busy and textured, I kept the rest of the outfit subtle with neutrals pieces. This would be such a cute outfit to wear to brunch with the girls!

What’s the verdict? How would you style a sequin dress for daytime wear?

how to style a sequin dress

Last winter, I really wanted a sequin dress. Kirasoli heard my cry and sent me this cute sequin mini dress! Let me tell you something — if you want attention, wear a sequins. They’re bold, flashy, and the perfect weapon for eliciting a second look. I love sequin dresses, and I’d definitely look you up and down if you had one on… over and over again. Awkward.

It’s not the kind of dress you think you’ll get much wear out of — not something you’d wear during the day or even on a normal night out, but something you save for special occasions and glamorous events… right?? Considering that I missed the holiday season and I’m doing this thing where I’m being more of a homebunny, it didn’t sound like I’d get a chance to wear this dress for a while… or can I?

So I turned on my rusty brain and after some playing around, I came up with 4 different ways to style and wear this sequin dress, starting with the most basic, look #1 — the party dress! I’m guessing most people would have worn black or dark shoes with this, but I’m more of a light person, so I stuck to my likes.

While you’re at it, check out the rest of Kirasoli‘s shop for blouses, dresses and bottoms and for the next week, get 10% off your purchase with code: BB10. For US orders over $75, you can also get FREE shipping with code: FreeShipping2012. Coupons expire March 25th at 11:59pm PST.

My BFF and I had so much fun playing with this dress and I’m so excited to unveil the rest of the looks over the week!

floral pants

H&M floral pants | Zara sweater | Michael Kors Pressley pumps,
watch | Halston Heritage clutch | Aldo necklace, bracelet

I went to H&M today with my BFF and saw these pants hanging on the rack in the front. These pants, along with tops, dresses all in the same print. In large amounts. I was kind of ticked off. I received these pants ( which I adore ) for Christmas last year. Last year they cost, something like $60. At this moment, in stores, right now, they are $15. FIFTEEN. I touched them. I looked at them. I’m not sure if there’s a difference. To me, they look the exact same. So if you’re looking to get on this trend but don’t want to spend a fortune, H&M is your store. Just don’t be surprised when you see a bunch of other people wearing the same thing.

I’m still appalled.

PS – Not sure why the H&M site sells the trousers for $17.95. Get them in stores, they’re cheaper. If you don’t believe me, I took a picture.

mix and match spring trends

I realized that I don’t nearly greet ya’ll enough… so hi every bunny and happy hump day!

Okay, I admit it. I’m dirty. Yes, I’m wearing the same shirt (backwards) that I wore in my last post. But when you revive an old item, it’s like new again. Obsessing and over-wearing it is all game. I have something else to admit. This is THE first leopard piece I’ve ever owned. I bought one for my BFF as a part of her Secret Santa gift and having never really been embraced by leopard, I tried it on. Oh and it embraced me. Long and hard. I loved it. And loved it so much that one of my awesome guy friends ended up gifting me with it for Christmas. Love… the fact that I now have my own leopard cardi and the fact that a guy paid enough attention to women’s fashion to remember what I loved. But then again, maybe I’m just lucky enough to have such a fashionable fun male friend, who’s not gay. There’s hope girls.

And just not too long ago, I added a 2nd piece of leopard to my closet: a scarf. Also worn in my last post.

In line with some of the trends for spring/summer, I finally got around to pairing different, contrasting patterns together in an outfit. How’d I do? Okay, I think. I also added a pop of red and snuck in some pastel nails. I think I’ve got the trends going on. Now only if I had some floral… overkill? Maybe next time.

wear it backwards

Jacob blazer, cuff | Zara top | H&M jeans | Aldo shoes
Marc by Marc bag | boutique scarf

Oh hello! Don’t you just adore the color of this blazer? I’ve never seen anything like it. So I obviously had to get it. But not before cringing at the price tag a few times and dropping by the store to touch, feel, try repeatedly. I mean, $130 for a blazer is… a bit steep. When it’s from Jacob. But the color. And blazers are such staple pieces in my wardrobe. Tell me it’s okay, please? I don’t usually shop at Jacob, but the stupid mannequin in the window was wearing the blazer and it caught my eye. It’s a good thing I ventured in though. I ended up finding the pretty blue cuff for $4 too. Win.

The striped Zara top I’m wearing is super old. I probably got it at least 3 years ago. It was only $20. I absolutely love the ruched shoulders, but over time, I started to hate the deep, wide neckline. It made me look… wide. And flat. So, I refreshed it by wearing the top backwards. Now, the neckline is straight and sleek, and the back has a cute, slightly sexy dip. I love this top again. Except for the giant hole in the armpit.
