Some things stay the same…

for longer than others.
As I was going through my Polyvore account, I came across this set I created in response to a question from Katy of TwentyFourCarat: What would you wear on a first date?
Below is the outfit I put together 2 years ago. It’s still an outfit I’d wear. Girly and feminine, but not like you’re trying to impress him. Besides, he should be the one trying to impress you.

I’m not sure if I’m okay with the fact that I seem to have the same taste as I did 2 years ago. Fashion and style change so frequently… shouldn’t I have evolved in some amazing way? Or is it okay if your underlying style remains the same?? Am I… boring!? Or am I going to become one of those mothers who wear what they wore back in their youthful days… thinking it’s still okay??
What would you wear on a first date? Would it have been the same 2 years ago?
XO,

Aw, don’t worry about this, you are over thinking it! This is a totally cute outfit and I think 2 years
isn’t quite *that* long enough that fashion has evolved super much. Hmm 2 years ago for me,
I probably would wear something rather different than what I’d wear now, but mostly b/c when
was younger I was more prone to be racy hahah
Plenty of young moms can still wear what they did in their “youth”, but yeah, there does come time when that needs to stop. You don;t have to worry about being boring, there are no signs of that happening any time soon. Two years isn;t long, plus it’s great when clothes still fit two years later. =)
When I interview job candidates at work, I don’t worry about what I wear because I feel like they’re trying to impress me…not the other way around. On a first date I hope it would be a more mutual situation, both putting our best foot foward without being phony–I hate that. SO I really like that your first date outfit is girly, but not trying too hard–just being yourself.
I think it’s fine if your underlying style stays the same. You can always incorporate new trends into your personal style. That’s my opinion! :) That outfit is very cute.
I definitely do not dress the same as I did two years ago hahah. Which is definitely a good thing, but I now that I’ve settled with a style, I don’t think it’s going to change for awhile.
That’s so you. Love it!
That’s a classy date look, and that is something I would choose to wear now. Two years ago, hrm…knowing my back then, it would probably be something way different. 2 years ago I was in to trendy prints, sleeveless, cleavage (haha) and yeah, try to flash every high-end thing I own. I’m glad my taste has changed. See, you’ve had good taste all along. :)
I think my “style” has changed more in my late 20′s early 30′s than it did when I was yonger, but I mark that up to the amount of lifestyle change rather than age. Nothing wrong with it either way I don’t think though.
I like that for a date as well. I think my change of style is because of my age. I’m embarrassed of cleavage and looking too flashy.
I love this! Especially the top :)
TO answer your question, I def. would pick out the same thing that I would have picked out two years ago. But maybe a little black dress? That is, if he is taking me to dinner. It all depends on where though :)
