Last week, the Kitty Card had its official launch party at the Refinery. With nothing but the perfect girl’s night in mind, the night was transformed into a candy wonderland filled with sweet treats, cupcakes, cotton candy, decadent chocolates, savory canapes and of course, cute kitties.

If you’re a girl who loves the glamor and glitz, then Kitty Card events  are not to be missed! And of course, you can’t show up to an event like this without some kind of girly and stylish outfit! Anybunny else ever find it extremely difficult to put together an outfit for a special event? I spent a good hour just trying on clothes in my closet.

Denim with them holes

Bunnies, meet Current/Elliot.

I have a thing for ripped jeans… which makes it no surprise that my closet consists of a few pairs, these being my current favorites. Especially since they’ve had a makeover. These jeans are relaxed and have no stretch in them — gives you that homey feel… hence ‘boyfriend’ jeans. But being the thin jeans they are with rips… those rips slowly turn in to big, big, and bigger holes.

So yes, I gave them a makeover. Okay, the tailor did. But I didn’t know they could do it. I asked them to reinforce the holes to prevent them from ripping further and ta-da! They sewed a patch around the hole and cut out the center so I didn’t end up with a tacky denim patch on my jeans. That plus the vertical sew made the stitching invisible.

Definitely worth it. I’m currently loving my Elliots. Just. Like. New.

P.S. If you’ve ripped your jeans where they’re not supposed to be ripped { ie. the crotch, the knee, oh I’ve done it all before! } the tailor can fix it as well. I ripped a giant hole in the crotch area before and they patched it up – couldn’t even tell it was ripped! Or alternatively, check out Denim Therapy.

I have a shoe addiction.

bunnie_bar_shoe_collection

After some semi-intenseshoe cleaning, I managed to get rid of a mountain of boxes and 10+ pairs of shoes… which means there’s room for 10 more!! If you’re with me on Twitter, you would have heard the news in real time. {How cool right?} If you’re not…. What the @#$%?? It’s okay, I forgive you.

Now, apologize and follow me on Twitter. :)

I love shoes – they can make or break an outfit… just like accessories (which I also have a mountain of. That to be cleaned next!).

A few of the more glam n slammin’ high-heel shoes currently in my closet. Don’t worry, there’s more… and growing.

Of course, there are the regular black pumps, round-toed shoes etc, etc but who wants to see that? So what’s your thing?

Wilfred Lace Tank | XXI Bubble Skirt | UB Stilettos
Marc by Marc Clutch | H&M Bracelet

It’s been a while since I’ve felt completely girly… and what better way to satisfy that urge than dressing up in peach lace and bubble skirts? Okay, I threw some black in there too for accent and edge. But really, who can say no to patent pumps, satin bows and Marc by Marc?

I love brand names, but I refuse to neglect pieces because they don’t read designer all over them. Satin belt? Craft store. Patent Pumps? Yes, they’re from Urban Behavior. I’m an advocate for style and that includes wearing things because they look good, and not because they’ve got a name plastered all over them.

You won’t believe how many times I’ve seen this — Christian Dior sunnies, D&G tank top, Gucci belt, Crystal studded Rock & Republic jeans, Louis Vuitton speedy, and Coach sandals. Sweetheart, you’re trying too hard. You may look rich, but everyone knows you’re not. Not to mention you have no style. You’re just tacky. Breaks my heart every time.

I have to admit it’s a bit too cold to wear this in Vancouver. Trust me, I encountered a lot of weird looks and head shakes on a windy day. Let’s just pretend it’s warm and sunny.

Get sexy this summer!

When summertime comes, gyms, tanning salons and beaches quickly fill up. Why not? Who doesn’t want to look good? I sure as hell do. However, looking good isn’t only about breaking a sweat at the gym and showing off that bronze hue.

We all know about the hazards of too much sun and UV radiation, and with the Earth’s ozone layer thinning, this adds to an increase chance of age spots, wrinkles, damaged skin, and most of all, skin cancer. Not to mention, sun burns too! Although there are certain things that are great when slightly burnt (bacon, cheese, chicken skin, smokies…. mmm) your skin, is NOT one of them. Crispy human skin anyone?

So how can you look your best this summer while staying healthy and reducing your risk of sun damage and skin cancer?

Well, lucky for me (and you), I was listening to the radio the other day and tuned in to a segment by Dr. Tasreen Alibhai of Vitalia Healthcare which gave some GREAT summer tips!

Antioxidants that protect your skin

Top 5 nutrients to eat or apply topically:

  1. Grapeseed Extract. Found in none other than grape seeds and 50 times stronger than many other antioxidants!
  2. Resveratrol. Red grapes’ skin, red wine and peanuts. I like the red wine part.
  3. Vitamin E. Avocados, almonds and sunflower seeds.
  4. Vitamin C. Tomatoes, red and green peppers, melons, citrus fruits, broccoli.
  5. Green tea. At least 2 cups per day can help prevent skin tumors and skin damage.

Top 6 foods to eat:

  1. Broccoli sprouts. Having a salad? A sandwich? Don’t forget the sprouts!
  2. Beta-carotene. Leafy greens and bright veggies. Cook, chop or puree to get the most.
  3. Tumeric. Cook with it, or find it in Indian dishes.
  4. Dark chocolate. At 70% cocoa and 2 squares a day. Or maybe 2 boxes. Just kidding. Don’t do that.
  5. Lycopenes. Tomatoes and watermelons.
  6. Fish oil. Omega 3 oils are great for the skin. Wild salmon, snapper, cod, mackerel and sardines.

How to shed pounds & look good naked

Great skin ain’t a thang if you can’t fit into that bathing suit!

  1. Cut the soft drinks and high fructose corn syrup! Diet Coke, this means you too.
  2. Choose brown over white. Whole grain foods, brown rice, whole wheat bread.
  3. Fill half of your plate with a rainbow of veggies.
  4. The classic 8 cups of water a day.
  5. Sleep a minimum of 7 hours. Sleeping less than 7 hours will increase your risk of gaining weight!

Get specific details and daily dosages for nutrients in the full article. For other natural ways to stay healthy, visit Dr. Tasreen Alibhai at Vitalia Healthcare.
